Loft Clearance
Loft insulation can often become contaminated and damaged while rodents have been living within the space of the loft. Both rats and mice will use your loft insulation as bedding but also as a latrine, this rodent presence will often create a distinctive smell and may encourage other rodents to the area due to the rats leaving pheromone trails.
During pest control treatments AgriPest will often find evidence left behind by rodents, this may include dropping, carcasses, old rodenticide and nesting locations. It is always advised this waste left behind by the rodents is cleared away to reduce the risk of reinfestation and the risk of the household entering the loft space.
Replacing the loft insulation also carries other benefits, often the lofts we visit already lack the correct thermal insulation levels to keep the home warm, by reapplying the correct thermal insulation could keep your home warmer during the winter months while potentially saving you hundreds of pounds in energy bills.
AgriPest will begin by removing and disposing of all contaminated loft insulation, once the loft insulation has been removed our team of specialists will begin deep cleaning the loft, removing all accessible evidence of the rodents is key to the treatment.
Once the loft has been cleared to a blank canvas, we continue our decontamination process by fully disinfecting your loft space using our specialist machine that fills the loft with a distinction mists ensuring all cracks and crevasse are treated.
Once the loft insulation has been removed and the space decontaminated by AgriPest we will begin the installation process, AgriPest only use approved materials to ensure maximum thermal properties.
As standard AgriPest will lay 100mm glass mineral wool between the joists then a further 200mm laid at a 90 degree across the base layer. These levels are in line with UK building regulation standards.

AgriPest are one of only a handful of companies that offer a ULV disinfection treatment, this specialist machine coverts a liquid into an incredibly fine mist that is lighter than air, once the machine is switched on the mist that is produced will catch the natural air currents that are found within all loft spaces, this mist will then swirl around the loft for up to 2 hours ensuring all surfaces are contacted by the disinfectant detergent.
Once the loft clearance and re insulation is complete you will be left with a nice clean loft safe in the knowledge there are no nasty surprises up there when you go up to retrieve Christmas decorations or stored items.
