Wasps:

Appearance: Generally slender with a narrow waist and smooth bodies. They have bright yellow and black stripes.
Behaviour: Social insects that live in colonies.
Nesting: Nests are made of paper-like material from chewed wood fibres. Found in sheltered spots like trees or eaves of buildings.
Diet: Omnivores; they feed on nectar, fruit, and other insects.
Sting: Can sting multiple times and are generally more aggressive.

European Hornets:

Appearance: A type of wasp but larger and more robust. Often have black and white or yellow markings.
Behaviour: Social insects that live in large colonies.
Nesting: Nests are made of paper-like material and are often located high in trees or on buildings.
Diet: Similar to wasps, they feed on nectar and other insects.
Sting: Can sting multiple times and have a more painful sting compared to other wasps.

Honeybees:

Appearance: Medium-sized, hairy bodies with brown and black stripes.
Behaviour: Highly social and live in large colonies. Known for producing honey and beeswax.
Nesting: Nests (hives) are made from wax produced by the bees and are often found in hollow trees, properties or man-made hives.
Diet: Feed primarily on nectar and pollen.
Sting: Can sting only once as their stinger is barbed and gets stuck in the skin, causing the bee to die after stinging.

Bumblebees:

Appearance: Robust and hairy with black and yellow (sometimes orange) stripes. Larger and fuzzier than honeybees.
Behaviour: Social insects that live in smaller colonies compared to honeybees.
Nesting: Nests are often in the ground, in cavity walls, in abandoned rodent burrows or in dense grass.
Diet: Feed on nectar and pollen.
Sting: Can sting multiple times but are generally less aggressive than wasps and hornets.
